Black Walnut Leaf

Black Walnut Leaf is used externally as an astringent for treating acne, eczema, herpes and ulcers. The compound juglone has been shown to be a laxative, fight worms, and have strong activity against bacteria. The tannin (astringent) in the leaf is also used to help control diarrhea and the excessive loss of blood during menstrual periods. It is also said to relieve eczema, psoriasis and many other skin ailments. It's antiseptic and antibacterial properties fight infection and has been used in Germany for decades to clear sinus infection and runny nose. It is thought to be an excellent treatment for fungal infection, relieving leprosy-type skin diseases, athlete's foot, cold sores and Candida albicans.


Vitamins and minerals: The large vitamin C content in Black Walnut Leaf is also thought to be responsible for fighting infection.


Effect on body odor and bad breath: It is highly astringent, and this quality is said to shrink the sweat glands and reduce excessive perspiration. It has also been shown to have antibacterial properties.

Warning: Isolated juglone may be mutagenic and carcinogenic and therefore internal use of black walnut preparations is not recommended for extended periods or in high dosage.
