Primary ciliary dyskinesia, also known as Immotile Cilia Syndrome is a rare disorder where the cilia (tiny, tail-like projections) fail to move or are absent. They are found in the respiratory, ear passage and the tail of the sperm. The propulsion of sperm and mucus and debris clearance from the the respiratory tract and middle ear are impair. The consequence: risk of frequent ear and respiratory infections, sinusitis, male infertility and breath odor.
